Marie-France Guénette wins 2017 Summer School Scholarship

The European Society for Translation Studies has selected Marie-France Guénette as the winner of its 2017 Summer School Scholarship

Marie-France, the recipient of a SSHRC-Bombardier Doctoral Fellowship, is a PhD candidate in Translation Studies in the Département de Linguistique et de Traduction at the Université de Montréal (Canada), working under the joint supervision of Profs. Marie-Alice Belle and Brenda M. Hosington. Her research project is entitled “Printed Translations at the English Court of Queen Henrietta Maria (1625-1642)”. It focuses on court culture and early modern English translation and print cultures within the complex political and ideological dynamic of Henrietta Maria’s court. Marie-France will receive 1,000 euros to attend the CETRA Summer School 2017 in Antwerp, Belgium.

The committee received and carefully evaluated seven applications this year. The main criteria for assessment were the innovativeness of the topic and relevance of the study for the field, a sound theoretical and methodological framework, the clarity and correctness of academic style and terminological adequacy of the application, the applicant’s competences and needs,as well as the relationship between the project and the summer school programme selected by the applicant.
