Shiyi Tan, a member of EST since March 2025, was honoured to receive the EST Summer School Scholarship for her participation in the MC2 Lab’s 3rd International Summer School on Cognitive Translation & Interpreting Studies (CTIS) from 7-18 July 2025 at Adam Mickiewicz University. Shiyi holds a master’s degree in Translation Studies and a bachelor’s degree in Translation. She is a certified translator and interpreter working between Chinese and English. Driven by her interest in interpreting and intrigued by the cognitive mechanisms behind it, she decided to pursue a PhD to gain a deeper understanding of this complex and unique communicative practice. She is currently a second-year PhD student at the Centre for Translation Studies of the University of Surrey, UK. Her research project focuses on integrating automatic speech recognition (ASR) technology into video remote dialogue interpreting in healthcare settings
