The 2016 EST Event Grant has been awarded to Unlimited!, the International Symposium on Accessible Live Events to be held at the University of Antwerp on 29 April 2016.
The EST’s financial contribution will be up to 1000 euros.
There were five candidates for the EST Event Grant this year. Although all were excellent proposals and deserved support, the Antwerp symposium was selected because of its innovative focus.
Unlimited aims to be an innovative symposium that explores new forms of translation for live events, endeavouring to contribute to making culture in the broad sense accessible to all, not only across language barriers but also across sensorial barriers. It also wishes to promote and support research in live access services, a recent interdisciplinary domain of Translation Studies, encouraging collaboration between researchers, actors in the field, and software developers.
