EST signs agreement with Javier Franco Aixelá (BITRA)
Signed on January 31 2011, the protocol of understanding recognizes common aims and interests, particularly with respect to free access to scientific information.
Javier Franco Aixelá, of the Universidad de Alicante in Spain, is the founder and owner of the free online Bibliography of Translation Studies (BITRA). The bibliography includes abstracts and has over 46,000 entries. Anyone can search the database and propose new entries.
The European Society for Translation Studies agrees to help promote the BITRA database, in accordance with the principles of the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities. It invites its members to propose new entries through the Society’s own web-based form.
The Society has also provided logistical support to the Benjamins online Translation Studies Bibliography (TSB), and information from the Society’s online form is fed directly into both BITRA and TSB.
