Young Scholar Prize 2025 recipients

After evaluating 32 eligible applications from candidates from almost as many universities and topics, the committee decided to specifically recognize the work of:

  1. Zoe Moores (University of Roehampton) for Training professional respeakers to subtitle live events in the UK: A participative model for access and inclusion
  2. Javier Moreno Rivero (University of Cambridge) for Translation policies of minoritised languages through organised activism: A comparative study of Catalan and Welsh
  3. Senne M. Van Hoecke (University of Antwerp + Macquairie University) for Subtitles for access to education. The impact of subtitles, subtitle language and linguistic proficiency on cognitive load, comprehension, reading and processing in different styles of asynchronous, online university lectures.

The other shortlisted candidates were Paolo Canavese and Francesca Fritella.
